Tissue box

For my wife’s birthday I made this tissue box:

It’s a lot nicer than the cardboard box the tissues come in. It’s made of red oak, with a top of purpleheart.

This is the first finger joint I’ve made. It wasn’t as difficult as I thought it might be. A shop-made jig clamps to the miter guage to position each finger cut. It only took a couple tries to get the spacing right. The first time was so exact that the parts wouldn’t go together.
